These stones are then fabricated into a thin veneer and are offered in many different shapes, colors, and textures. This fabrication process removes weight from the stone making it easier to adhere in all different types of projects. Natural veneer stone can be applied to various structures such as front entranceways, foundations, outdoor barbeques, indoor or outdoor fireplaces, retaining walls and front stoops.

Retaining walls can be made of many different materials such as clay brick, concrete pavers, railway ties, concrete, and concrete wall blocks. Retaining walls have been used for thousands of years. Many areas in the northeast are not very level and require retaining walls to level areas on a sloped surface. Retaining walls have numerous qualities and can be used for different purposes. They can be used as a seating wall or they can have a light post adjacent to them in order to illuminate the areas people walk. The walls can have steps incorporated within them ultimately leading to a walkway or patio. They can also hold and retain soil therefore eliminating the process of re-grading by keeping the soil at different elevations. The most common of these to retain soil is concrete wall blocks and railway ties. Stone Tech Designs specializes in building walls with all these different materials. Contact our company today and we can go over some of the options to help solve your grade problems. Call us at (516) 764-4815 or email our company at mike@stonetechmasonry.com.

Water is added to those materials and when it’s mixed with the cement it forms a solid mass. The hardening process of the concrete when mixed with water is called hydration. Once the components are bonded together they become a solid material. Concrete is mainly used for foundations, pavement, large buildings, bridges, walls and parking garages. At Stone Tech Designs we primarily use concrete for driveways, sidewalks, patios, foundations, and as a baselayer for interlocking or clay paver patios. A concrete driveway is very durable and can give off a nice look. Concrete can be cheaper than most other paving products and it is used more than any other man-made product in the world.

There are many choices when selecting materials to pave the areas surrounding of your pool. Some of these choices include clay pavers, concrete pavers, concrete, stamped concrete, and most natural stones that are flat. For a pool patio you want a surface that is smooth for your feet, also not slippery which can be hazardous when the patio is wet. A smooth surface is also important to prevent children from tripping as well as making it easier to move patio furniture around on the patio. Another thing to look for when choosing a material is something that doesn’t get extremely hot in the summer heat. Natural stones are great cause of their durability and require very little maintenance. Another positive is the stone gives that natural look with the variation of shapes and sizes that are available. An additional asset to using natural stone is that there is a large assortment colors and texture to choose from. Meanwhile, one advantage to using concrete is the price. Regular poured concrete is one of the cheapest options when paving, but stamped concrete is more expensive. Concrete is susceptable to crack over time and also fade due to weathering. The reason concrete cracks is usually due to the settling in certain areas. In the northeast, with the severe winters, the ground is constantly expanding and contracting causing the surface cracks in the concrete. It is important to install properly and leave room for expansion. Concrete pavers are the most tradional and have become the most popular paving material for pool patios. Most of our customers have tendency to use pavers for their pool patios. There are many different patterns, shapes, and sizes and with the proper installation this material can create a unique and extraordinary look to your pool. Stone Tech Designs is skilled in all of these applications. More importantly, having the experience with designing these types of projects we can really create a showpiece that you will admire for years. Please contact our company if you wish to see how we can transform your pool area from a fantasy into reality. Email us at mike@stonetechmasonry.com or call (516) 764-4815 to make an appointment.

The benefits of using concrete pavers compared to using other paving materials are numerous. Concrete pavers remain unaltered in excessive heat or extreme cold. Concrete pavers are exceptionally solid which gives the pavers amazing strength and durabilty.

Each paving stone has a spacer which creates a joint that allows expansion without cracking. A segmental paving system allows for expansion and contraction without generating surface cracks. Concrete pavers have a life expectancy of over 50 years and are stronger than basic poured concrete surfaces. Concrete pavers are low-maintenance and also simple to repair if needed.

Maintenance of Concrete Pavers

Any stained or cracked paver can be replaced by removing the damaged one and installing a new one. An occasional rinsing and sweeping is about the only maintenance needed for the pavers. For areas of heavy moss or soiled spots, pressure washing is the most appropriate way to clean those areas. Also a cleaning solution, such as Sure Klean, with a brush and some water will help solve the problem.

The Difference Between Concrete Pavers and Other Materials

Common asphalt, poured concrete or clay pavers are very faint in correlation with the beautiful colors that concrete pavers have to offer. The many different designs and shades of colors create a unique look to your home. The artistry of paving stones adds a distinct appeal and an increase in value to your property.

Versatility of Pavers

Concrete pavers are very versatile because they can be used in both residential and commercial sites. They can be installed to pave parking lots, sidewalks, patios, walkways, streets, and pool patios. Besides paving they can be used to veneer areas such as steps, platforms, front entrances, and retaining walls.

These are most of the benefits of concrete pavers. If you would like to see a current paving project please email our company at Mike@stonetechmasonry.com or call (516) 764-4815 to set up a time to meet.
